Michael Jackson donated and raised hundreds of millions of dollars for beneficial causes and supported more than 39 charities. On May 14, 1984, he was invited to the White House to receive an award from President Ronald Reagan for his support of charities that helped people overcome alcohol and drug abuse. All of the profits from his single “Man in the Mirror” went to charity. In 1992 he founded the Heal the World Foundation, which sent millions of dollars around the globe to help children threatened by war, poverty, and disease.
